Glass transitions in bituminous binders

چکیده
Abstract The RILEM TC 272 PIM (Phase and Interphase behavior of innovative bituminous Materials)—TG1 Binder has initiated an inter-laboratory program investigating the phase interphase behaviour binders. Within scope, four laboratories evaluated low temperature properties seven binders with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). DSC been accepted as a powerful tool to evaluate, among others, glass transitions, T g , monitoring endothermic or exothermic heat flow material under controlled conditions. There are different ways run test, conventional linear-DSC (TL-DSC), modulation-DSC (TM-DSC). latter proven efficient method differentiating structural relaxation phenomena from capacity. In this study, emphasis was placed on comparing measured by TL- TM-DSC improve interpretation binder transitions. scope restrained two Polymer modified Binders (PmBs): commercially available named PmB1 highly (7.5 wt% high vinyl SBS) PmB2, were compared neat Based thermographs PmB2 obtained through program, it observed that modification 7.5% SBS resulted in decrease . This reduction reflects positive influence at temperatures.

Characterization of Glass Transition Temperature and Surface Energy of Bituminous Binders by Inverse Gas Chromatography
Inverse gas chromatography (IGC) was used to characterize two bituminous binders (A and B) of different origin. Glass transition temperatures (Tg) were determined by constructing van’t Hoff plots using n-pentane probes in a temperature range between -50 °C and +120 °C. Tg values were specified using the first deviations from linearity observed in the adsorption zone of the plots. A 6 °C differe...
متن کاملGlass transition dynamics in water and other tetrahedral liquids: ‘order–disorder’ transitions versus ‘normal’ glass transitions
We review some aspects of the confusion concerning the glass transition in water, and then show that it must be of a quite different character from that in other molecular liquids, and in fact is the kinetically controlled part of a classical order–disorder transition. (This is the conclusion reached in a review of the low temperature phenomenology of amorphous water currently being published i...
متن کاملStatic and dynamic glass-glass transitions: a mean-field study
The behavior of a family of mean-field glass models is reviewed. The models are analyzed by means of a Langevin-based approach to the dynamics and a Replica theory computation of the thermodynamics. We focus on the phase diagram of a particular model case, where glass-to-glass transitions occur between phases with a different number of characteristic timescales for the relaxation processes. The...
متن کاملIdeal glass transitions by random pinning.
We study the effect of freezing the positions of a fraction c of particles from an equilibrium configuration of a supercooled liquid at a temperature T. We show that within the random first-order transition theory pinning particles leads to an ideal glass transition for a critical fraction c = c(K)(T) even for moderate supercooling; e.g., close to the Mode-Coupling transition temperature. First...
متن کاملGlass transitions of freely suspended polymer films
We present a modified version of our " sliding model " , where chain arcs, between two contacts at the surface, may move if all the barriers along the arc are weaker than a certain threshold. An important advance of the revised model is that the high limiting chain lengths N * observed in the experiments (N * ∼ 10 4) are naturally accounted for. In this model, a film of thickness h < 2R 0 (wher...
